My goal is to provide the best possible outcomes for our Benicia students which include the following key areas: School safety, mental health awareness and support services, transparency when communicating with our families, educators, and community and due diligence in ensuring that all students graduate knowing their options for college or for going directly into the workforce.
I earned my teaching credential from Dominican University. I have been an educator for over 20 years. I taught 1st, 2nd, and 6th grade. I was in the classroom differentiating instruction for students and working with parents. I also served as a school site administrator and I understand the challenges that our administrators face when having to address tough issues while working within the strict parameters of our education laws. I have a BA from Howard University, a MA in Education from Chapman University and I am a Doctoral Candidate at Grand Canyon University in Organizational Leadership with an emphasis in Organizational Development.
Working together as a team is vitally important. Having served on the Benicia Arts and Culture Commission and on other boards for national and international organizations, I know the importance of listening and sharing ideas and evaluating policy. Our students deserve to have experienced and diverse thinkers at the table who will advocate on their behalf.
